Natural & Earthy Mid Century Vibes

June 17, 2019

I am SO excited to finally be sharing our newly decorated, highly thought-out interior of our home in Chicago! I worked meticulously to find a universal color scheme combined with different textures both soft and warm that appeals to men and women. We decided since we're such lovers of the outdoors and all things earth, we would create a feel of "bringing in the outdoors". Comfort and warmth are key to this design. The outdoor is brought in with distressed wood and live edge details. while natural elements such as pine wood are used as durable surfaces such as the book shelf you see above. A cozy color palette of rich chocolate browns, all hues of the forest, and touches of grey and white for a chance to pick up light in the darker choices.

Our view is of the stunning blue lake Michigan, and for our living space we wanted to bring that inside! Being from the Florida beaches I couldn't resist adding blue to the scheme, I mean LOOK AT THAT 😍 So we opted for a Strandmon lounge chair from IKEA and paired it with its same color ottoman in a brilliant blue hue to compliment the lake. We have a collection of art, that we decided best fit as a wall gallery exemplifying who we are as individuals. We incorporated natural elements such as distressed wood, along with rocks, animals, and landscapes with the added touch of playfulness that showcases we're still children at heart with our two end pieces.

The color story we were aiming for was something light, versatile for every season, and had to remind us of the greater outdoors, so we choose colors like Natural, White, Green, Copper/Light Pink, and Black!

Share in the comments below your favorite home trend from now or then! It's always fun to relive those :)
xoxo Ashley

    1. Thank you so much! I used my Canon EOS M100 with my manual lens for these shots! But I also use a M50 for my macro (close up) shots!
